A Short Sun Break in SanDiego

Escaping the cold and snow interspersed with the typical gray gloom of February in the NW we flew to SanDiego for a short sun break and to see whether this might be a worthy destination for a long winter getaway next year.

Bye, bye winter . . .

Our apartment was 1 block from the ocean through a narrow pedestrian pathway and in the opposite direction 3 blocks from Mission Bay, perfect location.  We within a short walk to restaurants, bike rentals, grocery stores and had easy access to a bus line that ran north to LaJolla or south to downtown SanDiego.

Our first two days were spent walking, walking, walking soaking up the warmth of the sunshine, we were in heaven.

We loved SanDiego but on day 3 I could barely get out of bed, my back went out and long story short, day 3 was spent in the Emergency Department, day 4 indoors on the floor watching a rain storm pass through and on day 5 the sun returned but we flew home since I was still unable to move without a lot of pain.

We loved the easy access to everything either on foot or by public transit, loved the vibe of the Mission Bay community, great restaurants, abundant sunshine, sand between our toes and miles of walking or biking along both the bay and the coast.  We will be back.
